Over the years, our technologies have been incorporated in more than 500 renewable production lines in more than 30 countries. And a remarkable number of them are still in use, many decades after they were built.
Babcock & Wilcox Vølund both manufactures, constructs, maintains and operates renewable energy plants.
When we developed our first waste-to-energy plant back in 1930, it revolutionised waste-disposal techniques. Since then we’ve grown to become one of the world’s leading turnkey EPC contractors and suppliers of equipment and technologies that turn solid waste and biomass into thermal energy.

Protecting the climate and the environment while producing results for you
In today’s climate and environmentally conscious society, high-quality products alone are not enough to achieve success. It’s also necessary to have broad, multi-disciplinary experience, strong project-management skills, and good empirical designs. By bringing these elements together, we are able to gain the insights needed to ensure the successful completion of today’s sophisticated waste-to-energy and biomass projects.
Customer expectations with regard to quality
Babcock & Wilcox Vølund supplies renewable energy plants and services intended to satisfy our clients’ individual needs and unique requirements. The global competition has led to higher customer expectations with regard to quality. To meet those expectations and maintain our competitive edge we have developed sophisticated, state-of-the-art equipment and systems based on changing customer needs and our continuing research and development.
Our foundation is a Quality Management System in accordance with the ISO 9001 international standard. The system has been certified by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) since 1994.
In addition, we are certified according to Pressure Equipment 97/23/EC by Inspecta, structure steel EN 1090-1, standard TRD 201 & AD-2000 Merkblatt HP0 and EN ISO 3834 (EN 729) by TÜV.

Our customers know that we are honest and open-minded partners. Of perhaps even greater importance, we have never walked away from an unfinished project. It’s as simple as that.
