Hand-over of the w-t-e plant of Reno Nord, Aalborg

Reno Nord’s new waste-to-energy plant, situated east of Aalborg, is one of the most modern and efficient waste-to-energy plants in Denmark.

The hand-over was celebrated on 26 October 2005 where the plant was officially opened by H.H. Princess Alexandra.

Maximum efficiency

Reno Nord’s main objectives for the new plant have been to manage the increasing amount of waste and to meet new EU requirements.

The new line has a capacity of 20 t/h (12MJ/kg) which corresponds to 160,000 tons of waste per year. Reno Nord’s electricity capacity has been tripled; the plant will be supplying 30,000 households with electricity and 16,000 with district heating.

The thermal efficiency is approximately 100%, which is an improvement of 25% compared to the thermal efficiency of the old lines.
