Beacon Conference on W-t-E in Malmö, 20-21 October 2005
We will be participating in the International Solid Waste Association’s Beacon conference in Malmö, Sweden, from 20-21 October 2005.
This will be the 4th Beacon conference.
The 4 main topics to be discussed are: Waste policy, integrated waste management, technical state of the art, and future.
Ole Hedegaard Madsen will make a presentation with the title: Thermal Treatment of Slag in Combined Stoker/Rotary Kiln W-t-E Plants.
Abstract
Thermal Treatment of Slag in Combined Stoker/Rotary Kiln W-t-E Plants
In the last decade, many new efforts have been dedicated towards the development of alternative incineration technologies for MSW, mostly with the objective of producing better residues for further utilisation. Despite substantial investment into such innovative technologies, so far none of these processes have been proven successful in the market. They are either technically or economically non-viable.
The combined stoker/rotary kiln W-t-E Plants represent a well-proven technology used by Babcock & Wilcox Vølund for more than 40 years. The technology has been re-engineering by using modern design tools and process equipment in order to meet modern MSW conditions and to optimize the slag sintering process. The result is an industrially proven system that can improve the slag quality.
