Babcock & Wilcox Vølund licenses its Vølund Systems™ waste-fired power plant technology to Guangzhou Guangri Group in China

The foundation of the license agreement was laid in October 2007, and this important milestone was marked by a festive signing ceremony.

The approval of the agreement has been obtained, and Babcock & Wilcox Vølund and Guangzhou Guangri Group are now ready to enter the Chinese market together.

Babcock & Wilcox Vølund has signed a license agreement that gives Guangzhou Guangri Group Company Co. Ltd. the right to use and sell Babcock & Wilcox Vølund's waste-fired power plant technology.

The technology shall be used for high efficiency state-of-the-art combined heat and power plants for municipal and industrial waste fuels. The 10-year license period provides Guangri the rights to market the technology in China.

Guangri focuses on the waste management business and as a general contracting company for the realization of waste-fired power plants including project development, planning, construction, service, financing and management, all depending on the customers’ needs.

“Guangri is strategically focusing on the waste management market and we have entered into this license agreement with BWV because we see ourselves and BWV as market leaders within our fields. The Guangdong province and the rest of the Chinese market will need large-scale and high-efficiency waste-fired power plants. This license agreement becomes a very important initiative to the Chinese waste-to-energy sector and to our environment" says Mr Pan Sheng Shen, President of Guangzhou Guangri Group Co. Ltd.

“China is an important market with a significant potential and BWV have for years been looking for the right partner in China. Guangri is an excellent enterprise and managed with leadership; a company that we are proud to be able to work with. This license agreement marks an important milestone in our history" says Mr John Veje Olesen, Managing Director of Babcock & Wilcox Vølund A/S.

The license agreement between Guangri and Babcock & Wilcox Vølund highlights the two companies’ commitment to the Chinese market in a long-term cooperation with novel waste-to-energy technology.
