Major Inconel renovation order for Vestforbrænding, line 5
1800 m² Inconel cladding for Vestforbrænding, line 5
On 8 March 2006, Babcock & Wilcox Vølund signed the contract for the most extensive Inconel renovation of a waste-to-energy boiler in Scandinavia to date.
The total Inconel cladding surface amounts to approx. 1800 m². The agreement includes dismantling and reassembling of the existing boiler (Boiler 5) as well as delivery, installation and commissioning of a new air preheater.
The new air preheater will increase the burning capacity for unit 5 and thereby improve the annual electricity production.
Some major advantages of Inconel cladding are that it protects against corrosion in the furnace, increases lifetime and shortens down-time.
The project plan is tight from the very beginning: In the middle of September 2006, Boiler 5 must be shut down, then dismantled and reassembled within very short time. This challenge requires our best efforts, high professionalism and state-of-the-art project management.
Everybody in our organisation has made great contribution to winning the contract and we look forward to working on this project.
