Babcock & Wilcox Vølund seminar harvests positive feedback
Enthusiastic students and professors, good technical discussions, a plant visit, and much positive feedback were the main ingredients of the Babcock & Wilcox Vølund (BWV) waste-to-energy seminar on 21 March 2007 at Aalborg University (AAU).
Waste-to-energy seminar at Aalborg University
The objective of the seminar was to foster dialogue between students from “Fluids And Combustion Engineering” and “Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technology”.
The main topic was an introduction and a look behind the scenes at our company, focusing on the exciting daily challenges faced by BWV engineers. The other main topic was knowledge-sharing on waste-to-energy technology and we had a good opportunity to introduce and discuss our latest advanced technology.
Case Study: Reno Nord Waste Fired Power Plant
In order to make the seminar as relevant as possible we used the local and technically renowned state-of-the-art Aalborg plant, Reno Nord, as a case study. A number of presentations gave the audience insight into design processes and BWV technologies.
After the presentations we visited the Reno Nord plant, where BWV engineers and the Reno Nord staff gave guided tours with lots of opportunities for informal discussions, questions and first-hand experience of the technology.
Dinner and a good discussion
After the plant visit we enjoyed an informal dinner. It was a fruitful day for everybody and the keen participants continued their waste-to-energy dialogue into the evening.
Following presentations, students, professors and Babcock & Wilcox Vølund engineers went for a plant visit to the Reno Nord Waste Fired Power Plant in Aalborg.
