Contract on waste-fired boiler to TAS I/S

Babcock & Wilcox Vølund and TAS I/S have signed a contract for the delivery of one hot water waste-fired boiler for their existing waste-to-energy facility in Kolding, Denmark.

TAS I/S, Trekantområdets affaldsselskab I/S was established at the beginning of 2003. The company is an inter-municipality company owned by eight municipalities (Børkop, Egtved, Fredericia, Lunderskov, Kolding, Middelfart, Nørre Aaby and Vamdrup) in the growth region “Trekantområdet”, i.e. the triangle formed by the cities of Fredericia, Kolding and Middelfart in Denmark.

The new line

The new line is equipped with a modern three pass Vølund boiler with a horizontal convection part for the production of hot water. The grate system will be a one lane water-cooled B&S tipping grate.

The new line will have a nominal capacity of 10 tonnes waste per hour at a heating value of 11 MJ/kg and a maximum waste throughput of 12.5 tonnes per hour.

The plant is scheduled for hot operation by spring 2007.
