Industries utilising the benefits of biomass
Some wood-consuming industries have a surplus of wood which cannot be used for production. For example, the paper industries have a surplus of bark.
Many food-producing industries create biomass waste products. For example, sugar factories produce the waste product bagasse, and olive oil producers have a surplus of pressed pulp.
Since these industries have a consumption of energy, the bio-waste products are used as fuel. This solves the waste problem and at the same times saves money for purchasing fuel.
